"It is impossible to survive in a prolonged state of reality, at least for a human being. We spend a good part of our lives dreaming, especially when we’re awake."

Visited my grandpa at the hospital today. It was nice seeing him recovered from his recent pneumonia attack yet it was unbearable watching him struggle to eat or move his limbs. He barely remembered me but it was nice to be around family again. Sometimes I forget how that feels like, and in these regrettably scarce moments, i feel an ignition of nostalgia inside me.

I had a magical day with family, my 1st aunt took me out for an all veg meal with the rest of the family. The taste of mock meat was refreshing, and to be honest I don’t think that there is anything wrong with being a vegetarian and wanting to eat mock meat. Because it’s not about the meat but it’s about how the meat is made- we crave the taste of that and not necessarily the meat itself and thankfully this can be engineered similarly using mock meat! Okay enough with the mock meat monologue.

After lunch, they took me shopping around causeway bay until they had to return home. I had a couple hours to kill so I stopped by a decent looking cafe and waited for the storm to abate. After-which I went to visit grandpa again with my uncle and we had dinner at some fancy pants restaurant. The food was delicious and I haven’t had xiao long bao in ages. Unlike the rest, this was made of crab meat and hence Kathy-friendly. It tasted as yummy. Nomzzz.

Drew myself a bath and currently thinking about Tuesday. I enjoyed this holiday thoroughly but I think I’ve overstayed my visit. I’m getting tired and I do miss people at home. Strangely, I miss the china duo. But more importantly, I miss my dad even more. Technically I won’t be seeing him until late June but going back seems like it’ll make things better. :)

Will be seeing more family tomorrow followed by a quiet evening at the beach with some friends. xx

Heading back to Shinjuku today. Last night at Mt. Fuji was characterized by ultimate clowning and juvenile ‘mistery box’ tasting. I’m going to miss the katatsu and cycling under the sun for hours without breaking a single sweat. $400 poorer and I have 11 more days to go. :/

Biked to Kawaguchiko lake and had some beer, seaweed and gummies. Postulated about the future amongst many other things. This is our last day in Mt. Fuji and it has been well spent. Umeshu awaits. Peace.

Mt. Fuji. It’s the most majestic thing I’ve ever seen. We woke up early so we can take the first cable car all the way to the top to catch a better view of fuji- one not covered with too many clouds. Turns out hiking up fuji only starts in July. But even then, I might die in the cold. Now we are going to picnic at a park near the hotel. xx

Lounging on the tatami with kan, my favourite person in the world. Not doing anything in particular because it’s 11:55pm in the night and unless you want to go outside and die in the cold, then lying on the tatami and hiding under layers of electrically heated blankets isn’t such a bad idea. We went to the sake brewery today, tried an assortment of sake and decided that the plum liqueur was the yummiest. Weak sauce, weak sauce.
After the sake tasting, we had to head back to the hotel to check-in. It was such a pain to lug all our shit up three flights of stairs. This was when I realized that Kanika is actually REALLY strong. Caught up with a bit of magician king and fell asleep on the couch in the lounge. After that, we began our pilgrimage to find Gyoza. Stuffed our faces and came back. Was a chill day. That’s how holidays should be- chill. You pay so much money to get away from the stressful life back at home and you wouldn’t want to spend your days running and rushing. It doesn’t make sense. And if you haven’t explored enough- just extend your stay or come back again another day. Man, I can’t wait to ball out in hong kong
